Cities operate and maintain parks, recreational trails, and recreation facilities for residents to spend quality time with friends and family but we see hardly any activities at night mainly due to poor lighting and safety issues. The majority of the parks still house inefficient yellowish HPS lights that offer little to no usable lights. The deferred maintenance on city parks will only exacerbate the poor lighting condition over time while the power consumption remains high. SolarMax LED offers turnkey services, including site audit, design, material, installation, financing, and customer service. SolarMax LED can lower the energy usage and maintenance cost while improving safety and security.
Projects
YUMA COUNTY
Yuma County wanted to undergo a county-wide outdoor lighting upgrade. At Tacna Park in Wellton, AZ they upgraded two baseball fields with metal halide lighting to LED lighting, using 600W OFS Series sports light fixtures. SolarMax’s lighting design illustrated the uniform light spread under the new lighting retrofit.
CITY OF INDUSTRY
Regularly holding large scale public events, City’s Expo Center had an urgent need to upgrade lights at three (3) parking lots. SolarMax supplied 200W LED area lights to replace 400W HPS, with 50+% energy savings and a longer lifespan. Even though the poles are around the parking area, the forward and wide-spread lens enables illumination spreading over the whole parking lot, achieving outstanding uniformity.
MOUNTAIN VIEW PARK
SolarMax LED designed and implemented a smart wireless lighting control and monitoring system. The LED fixtures, with integrated wireless nodes, can be remotely controlled and monitored through a web-based server on their workstations’ web page. Furthermore, each luminaire also has a PIR motion dimming sensor, which automatically dims the light to 50% after 20 minutes of non-occupancy detection. The smart wireless lighting control system provides real-time lighting performance status and enables the city to maintain the lights with minimum staff, labor, and costs.
TONY ARCEO MEMORIAL PARK
SolarMax proposed a system that can save energy usage and reduce lighting maintenance as a first pilot project for a citywide lighting replacement program. Lighting, in compliance with CA-Title 24, delivered dramatically improved lighting conditions. The new lighting has helped deter suspicious activities at night and offered better visibility for patrols and law enforcement in the area.
CITY OF CARSON
The project included three (3) buildings and nine (9) parks that cover over 80% of the city’s exterior lighting. SolarMax worked under a tight time constraint, but managed to complete the project in a timely manner. They were required to survey, design, comply with both IES and CA-Title 24 regulation, fabricate and deliver over 1,000 units of the special CCT 4,000K LED luminaires to meet SCE lighting incentive program deadline. Now the residents are welcomed to use the parks and sports facilities under properly illuminated LED luminaires.
CITY OF LAKE WORTH BEACH, FL
City of Lake Worth Beach was more careful when selecting the lights. They have special requirements on lighting to protect wildlife, but also needed adequate illuminance for safety and security. SolarMax LED was selected and successfully supplied exterior luminaires that best meet their needs. As a company with social responsibility, we strive to minimize the ecological effects and create awareness of environmental quality.
