SolarMax LED has landed a multi-million dollar California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) contract to replace more than 29,000 aging street lights with the Southern California company’s leading-edge, high-efficiency LED luminaires. Our initial scope of work will focus on public roadways and arterials across Sacramento County.
The terms of the $4 million-plus contract are in the process of being finalized. SolarMax LED and Caltrans officials are planning to begin the conversion process this summer.
The progressive nature of the project attracted some of the biggest companies in the LED industry, including GE Lighting and Philips. Many of the nine pre-qualified bidders viewed it as a prime opportunity to showcase their latest energy saving solutions. In the end, Caltrans selected the SolarMax LED subsidiary, one of the early-stage innovators in LED technology and applications.
